History & Tradition
This Mulvane Junior League Football Program was started by six Mulvane men in 1971. The six organizers included Wayne Waymen, Manuel Arroyo, Lowell Harp, Dennis Simon, Don Persels and Ted Powers. But thats really not all, there were others that joined later like Ron Crawford, Gary Reiser, Ronnie Waymen, Terry Jones and Deed Moyer who participated through the 70's and into the 80's when Terry Rhodes took over responsibilityof managing the league. The first year there were 73 players divided into four teams, Cardinals, Chiefs, Rams, and Jr Wildcats. This league began with only a few goals in mind, to teach football, sportsmanship, teamwork to the youth our community, and to have fun. It has continued to stress these points during every season. Since this program does not travel and play teams outside the city of Mulvane (it hasn't since the beginning), its been possible to emphasize the instruction and construction of the players first before considering the winning or losing. Many of the players have progressed up through the levels of high school ball, and some have even returned to coach in the league, I would say we're somewhere between our second and third generation of players.

The program has been self-supporting, only the equipment rentals, fundraising, and donations (many from individuals and Mulvane businesses) have sponsored our players. 1999 marked a season with the highest number of players ever in league history at 161.

Current Organization
Mulvane Junior League Football Inc. is a non-profit organization managed by volunteers (mostly parents). In order to keep focus on the goals this league is built on, a mission statement was created. This mission statement is used to help guide all decision-making, and insure the best interests of the players, is always given the greatest consideration.
I set of five elected board members are charged with the responsibility to manage the league business and activities.
